Directors

Terry Murphy CPA, BBus, DFP

Terry is a CPA, BBus and DFP qualified accountant and financial planner. He has worked for a number of different companies including large Australian companies in the top 50 and was the Commercial Manager for CSR and James Hardie driving expansion and looking over multimillion dollar budgets. He has been responsible for several business turnarounds, saving them from close to closure to now being some of Australia's strongest businesses.

Terry saw the opportunity franchising offered to further develop a network and in May 2015 acquired the Regional Master Franchise Rights for TaxAssist Accountants in Queensland with the commitment to take on New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory (ACT) by September 2016. Read more here.

Celeste Godwin BBus JP

Celeste is well-known in the Forster area, having been born there and going to the local schools. Her love of the area shows, when dealing with her clients and the community. She is a degree qualified accountant and Head Accountant within the Forster practice, where she specialises in tax and payroll and has particularly strong MYOB knowledge.

Celeste previously lived in South Australia and Tasmania, were she was the Financial Manager of a very successful fishing industry, with knowledge of turning waste into profit. This coupled with her excellent problem solving, people and communication skills makes Celeste a valuable member of the Support Centre team. Read more here.

Technical Support

Frank Murphy - Technical Support Manager

Frank has a background in accounting and finance and has been involved with Terry, Celeste and the team since 2013. Frank's knowledge and understanding of how the systems and software works makes him the go to support member, dealing with each individual enquiry efficiently. His specialty support area is the HandiSoft suite of programs, but he has been known to help out with fee setting, marketing and general enquiries. He also prepares and provides training to the network on self-managed super funds, BankLink, HandiLedger and HandiTax.

Debbie Foxley - Technical Assistant

Debbie has more than 36 years' experience working with different accounting firms, with roles ranging from reception, administration, payroll, taxation, accounting and auditing. Debbie prides herself on developing a close relationship with her clients, staff and peers. Debbie's country upbringing and her years of working within accounting firms from big to small, has given her the knowledge of "nothing is impossible". Debbie lives by this moto and helps others to realise their true potential. Debbie's background is why she is part of the Technical support, for not only system compliance, but support with audit compliance.

Recruitment & Operations Support

Barbara Halloran - Franchise Liaison Officer

Barbara has a solid business background having worked in fundraising, functions co-ordination, sales, promotions and management, and has been a small business owner. Barbara follows up enquiries from people who are interested in becoming a TaxAssist Accountants franchisee. She also assists franchisees to set up their offices and ensure that methods and procedures, detailed in the TaxAssist Accountants manuals, are implemented and followed correctly.

Business Development Support

Richard Chatten BA (Hons), QFP, DiFM - International Support Manager

Richard joined TaxAssist in July 2015 following seven years at a leading international franchise consultancy and publishing company, FDS. Richard graduated from the University of Northampton with a First-Class degree in Retail Marketing before joining FDS and specialised in creating Franchise Operations Manuals for business expanding by franchising, working alongside experienced franchise consultants and working with a number of national and international clients.

With almost 10 years' experience in national and international franchising, Richard's role is to manage the initial and ongoing training and support to our international network of Master Franchisees, as well as delivering training and support to our Master Franchisees' network of franchisees.

Marketing Support

Madeline Clarke Cert IV Acct ' Marketing Support & Social Media Manager

Madeline is Cert IV Acct qualified and joined the TaxAssist team in 2015. Madeline has the experience of Administration Manager and Accounts Payable & Receivable Officer. This has enabled her to be efficient in preparing tax and BAS Returns, payroll, as well as specialising in MYOB and Practice Manager. Madeline's experience and interest in reaching out to people and public speaking has led to her current role of Marketing Support and Social Media Manager.

Administration Support

Tania Jakob - Inbound Manager & Administration

Tania, once a business owner, has more than 20 years' experience working in office administration and offers a high standard of "good old fashioned" customer service. Tania is competent in the TaxAssist system, including MYOB, HandiSoft, and ASIC. Being very organised in systems, personnel and with her desire to get the job done, Tania is well-suited to the Inbound Manager role and is responsible for providing support to the other staff, accountants and franchisees.

Peta Curran Cert IV Acct - Inbound Lead Assistant

Peta has great communication skills with plenty of customer service experience after working in major tourist attractions for more than five years. Peta is on her way to becoming an accountant after completing Certificate IV of Accounting. She has gained experience in preparing individual tax returns, whilst performing the administration duties within the Forster office. Peta is a quick, logical thinker and supports the network on handling inbound leads.

Steve Herlihy B.Bus (Actg), MBA, CA, FCPA, F Fin, FTI

Steve is a Chartered Account, Fellow CPA, Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Fellow of The Tax Institute. With a foundation in Financial Management, Corporate Governance, Business Development, Acquisitions and Divestments, and with significant experience within tier-one organisations, Steve has also successfully managed a number of small/medium enterprises in the capacity of Company Director and CEO.

Steve, along with his business partner Tricia Kingston saw the opportunity TaxAssist Accountants would offer to leverage developments in integrated technology, cloud-based security and emerging trends in accounting services. In January 2018, they acquired the Regional Master Franchise Rights for TaxAssist Accountants in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. This acquisition also brought with it over 23 years of international experience, and award-winning technical and marketing support for a global network of circa 220 franchised areas supporting over 76,000 clients. Tricia Kingston B. Com (Actg), Econ, Law), CA, CPA, F Fin, ATI

Tricia is a Chartered Accountant, CPA, Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and Associate of The Tax Institute. Tricia is an accomplished financial professional and business leader with a strong background in Finance, Investment Evaluation, Performance Management, Planning and Project Management. She worked with BHP for 27 years before joining Ledgia in early 2017.

Tricia's roles have enabled her to accumulate extensive experience in establishing and embedding Accounting, Compliance and Financial Management processes, systems and reporting while creating a culture which engages, empowers and challenges personnel to deliver exceptional results. She has a proven ability to analyse and assess business acquisition, divestment and investments, negotiate with parties and present recommendations to senior executives to allow informed decision making. David Paulson QFP - Senior Manager, Global Franchise Recruitment

David joined The TaxAssist Direct Group in 2009 with the responsibility for franchisee recruitment in the UK. During this period, David was instrumental in recruiting 93 franchisees into the UK network, plus over 20 franchisees in Ireland and Australia. David was also responsible for brokering the sale of our first £1million ($1.6 million) franchise resale.

As Head of International Franchising, David leads the expansion of the TaxAssist Accountants brand into selected international markets. This role includes supporting Master Franchisees with franchisee recruitment and ensuring legal compliance with Australian franchise regulations.
